Participation Requirements

1. The adult(s) and child(ren) agree that they will under no circumstance attend the retreat under the influence of, or have in their possession or make use of any alcoholic substances, or non-prescription or illegal drugs during the Youth and Parent Adventure Retreat. The Participants agree that possession and use of such alcohol or drugs will result in the immediate conclusion of the retreat.

2. The participants agree that an adult unknown to Youth Unlimited staff may need to complete a character reference and/or criminal record check before approval of the retreat.

3. The adult(s) and child(ren) agree to fully disclose any unresolved drug or alcohol addictions, or history of physical or sexual abuse toward children or youth. Any adults with these addictions or abuse tendencies understand that they are NOT permitted involvement in Youth and Parent Adventure Retreats.

4. Persons under the age of 18 will only be permitted to participate in the Youth and Parent Adventure Retreats when accompanied by a legal guardian.

5. If the participating child(ren) has a second guardian/parent, the participating parent/guardian ensures that the Participation Requirements, Liability Waiver, and Retreat/Participant Registrations are understood and agreed to by the second parent/guardian.

Liability Waiver

On the date selected in the Retreat Registration and the other days of the adventure retreat, Greater Vancouver Youth for Christ and its division Youth Unlimited, referred to as YFC/Youth Unlimited will be sponsoring a Youth and Parent Adventure Retreat for the youth(s) and parent(s) involved in the YFC/Youth Unlimited program. This activity will be taking place in Mission and the surrounding area.

All YFC/Youth Unlimited activities are well supervised by qualified and professional staff. You (the parent) and your child(ren)/ward’s health and well-being will be this agency’s and its employees’ primary interest. The utmost effort will be taken not to place the participants in any situation that may be dangerous to them.

Acknowledging that participation in the above-named activity may involve some exposure to injury and risk, I (the parent) agree that YFC/Youth Unlimited, its agents and employees shall not be liable to me for any injury or damage resulting directly or indirectly from my child(ren)/ward’s or my own (parent) participation in the above named activity.

I, the parent/legal guardian of the participating child(ren), have reviewed the information outlined in the Waiver of Liability, Requirements for Participation, and Retreat/Participant Registrations with a staff of YFC/Youth Unlimited and fully understand and agree to the terms and conditions as specified above. I further consent to my child(ren)/ward’s and my own (parent) participation in the event outlined above. I also give permission for YFC/Youth Unlimited to obtain personal information about my child(ren)/ward and myself (parent) for the purpose of communication and registration requirements. I also give permission for my child(ren)/ward’s and my own (parent) photos/video to be taken and used in the communication and promotion of YFC/Youth Unlimited events.
